Disney Villain Costumes DIY
It’s good to be bad, especially for Halloween! This year for Mickey’s Not So Scary, my family went as villains and it was so much fun. There are lots of villainous characters to choose from., Hades, the Evil Queen, Cruella, Ursula, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts are just a few favorites.
For the specific costumes shown below, Hades wore a blue tee shirt that we cut the neck out of and painted with puff paint. The black gauze is from the Dollar Tree. We added white powder, black eye shadow and blue hair spray to complete the look. Ursula used an old white wig I had on hand. The necklace was made with a shell from Hobby Lobby. The tentacles were foam pool noodles stuffed into black socks with bubble wrap spray painted purple.
For Cruella, I found the striped jumpsuit at Wal-Mart, used a cheap wig, a white fur Christmas tree skirt and red gloves. The Evil Queen costume was purchased here with a few modifications including an added belt, new jewel for the chest and a new crown made out of craft foam.
Toy Story Halloween Costumes DIY
The options for this theme are to infinity and beyond! This is a great family costume idea for a larger group with a mix of girls and guys. My sister in love always does awesome themed costumes for her family. Last year, their costumes were from Toy Story and everything with DIY. It was adorable!

Little Mermaid Costumes for Halloween
The Little Mermaid is full of fun characters for Halloween costumes. Ariel, Eric, Ursula, Flounder, and Sebastian are the most iconic characters. My mom was Ursula for Mickey’s Not So Scary and made her tentacles from foam pool noodles, black socks from the Dollar Tree and painted bubble wrap.

101 Dalmatians Halloween Costume
This is such an easy costume to throw together in a pinch. With a little hair spray and some fur, one family member can be Cruella while everyone else just needs white and a few Dalmatian spots. I found these cute dresses at Walmart and purchased the red sparkly dog collars from the Dollar Tree. BONUS these will work for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A too. As the Star Wars franchise grows so do the costume possibilities. There’s a whole galaxy of costume options out there like the Han Solo, Rey, Leia and BB-8 from wdwbound.com.
Descendants Costumes for Halloween DIY
So many ways to be wicked, and SO many fun costume ideas can be found in the Descendants movies. These villainous offspring are super trendy and make it really easy to pair parent/child costumes together. These outfits were put together with thrift store finds and Mal’s leather jacket was just a plain purple jacket painted with the details.
Easy DIY Moana Costume for Halloween
We threw together these Moana costumes at the last minute for an event last year. I wore flowers in my hair and a green dress as TeFiti. My older daughter wore her Moana dress from LittleDressUpShop.com and my youngest wore a yellow dress with our Thanksgiving turkey hat (see those pictures here) to pull together a Hei Hei look.
Disney Up Halloween Costume
This movie is an adorable idea for Halloween costumes. It’s easy to be a Wilderness Explorer with khakis, a yellow polo and orange bandana. Other costume ideas are dressing as the elderly Carl or Ellie, Dug the dog or a DoDo bird.
Cars Halloween Costumes for Toddlers
Cas is a more complicated Halloween costume, but still LOTS of fun if you have the time to make them. We made these out of cardboard boxes to look like Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. They were actually for a birthday party, but they would be a fun and unique options for Halloween festivities too.
DIY Hocus Pocus Costume for Halloween
One of my favorite Halloween movies is Hocus Pocus! My daughter insisted on being witches for Halloween and it was impossible to find small kid sized costumes so I sewed these. Most of the fabric was found in the clearance bin at Hobby Lobby. My costume was just a plain green dress with a cheap velvet cape (I also sewed) and added iron on glitter vinyl shapes. I had the striped tights just laying around. We topped it off with fun make-up and hair color spray.
Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween Costumes
This is a Halloween classic, and the perfect inspiration for Halloween costumes. The Sally costume was purchased at Party City. My costume was a $10 shirt from Walmart with some gloves and striped pants. I made the Zero costume for my toddler with some scrap white fabric and craft foam/pipe cleaners glued around a headband. We drew on our stitch smiles with eye liner and were ready to celebrate!
