About Mommy of a Princess

About Mommy of a Princess

Hi, I’m Kayla! I started Mommy of a Princess to document my journey through motherhood and provide some support for other moms out there who are also raising little princesses.

I am a born and raised Florida girl who calls St Augustine home. I’m a former Director of Marketing who gave up the traditional 9-5 gig to stay home and raise my daughters. Now I’m putting my MBA to great use, working as a freelance social media marketer and professional party planner (is that even a thing?) while staying home during the day making memories with my two little princesses.

If you’ve seen any of my posts, you probably know I have a slight Disney obsession. We are annual passholders and only live 2 hours away from Walt Disney World so day trips happen at least 1-2 per month. I’m living the dream, playing with my daughters, running a few businesses that I love and savoring every moment of motherhood.

Happily Ever After

I met my Prince Charming back in 2009 at a theme park of all places. Oddly enough, I actually knew him growing up, he was my best friend’s older brother but was kinda annoying back in the day. He only ever talked about cars. Still does, but I’ve learned to love (well tolerate) it haha.

Happily Ever After - Mommy of a Princess

After high school he joined the Navy, and 6 years later we met again while chaperoning a church youth trip to Universal Studios when I was in college. A year of dating and a year long engagement later and we said “I do” on 11/11/11, the coolest anniversary date ever. Our wedding was a total DIY ordeal, and that was before Pinterest was even a thing. Fun fact, my husband wanted a crown for our wedding so I surprised him with a ‘king’ crown at the reception. He was pretty excited and wore it the whole night.

Meet the Princesses

Together, we have two little princesses. Evelyn is our first born. She’s smart, funny and full of sass. I love her little personality, though sometimes she can be a little high maintenance. She’s a girl after my own heart who loves twirling in princess dresses, singing, and visiting Walt Disney World. She asks to go ALL THE TIME. “Evie” as we call her is a chocolate milk-aholic and survives on mostly mac and cheese and goldfish. Anyone else have a picky toddler? Fun fact, she was named after Evelyn in The Mummy who also goes by Evie. Totally random movie, but my husband and I both love it and the name.

Aria is our littlest princess. She is an easy going child who is happy 98% of the time. She thinks her big sister is the funniest person ever and loves watching her play. We’re enjoying watching their sibling bond grow (though it was a pretty rough start). Aria was NOT named after Arya from Game of Thrones despite what my husband might say {and THIS Game of the Thrones themed cake smash}, we just really loved the name. Her nickname is “Ari” though that wasn’t planned. Evie calls her “Baby Ari” and it’s just stuck. She’s a huge baby. They can almost share clothes even though they are two years apart. Yay for hand me downs.

A Day in the Life

If you’re still reading, you must be really bored! My story is really not that interesting, but I’m glad you’re sticking around. Though my blog feed may look like nothing but Disney trips and fun parties, I can assure you, I’m just like every other mom.

Most days we spend at home. My daughter loves play dough, playing with her doll house and watching various movies on our Amazon Firestick since we don’t have cable. Occasionally we head to the park or beach for time outside. We live in Florida so the weather is nice for most of the year. During nap time and late at night (like way later than I should be awake) you can find me writing blog posts, answering party emails, scheduling social media for clients or binge watching something on Netflix simply because I have control of the remote and crave alone time. I am a total night owl and some mornings I regret it. Some days I have to work like this…

A Day in the life

My house is never clean which is probably why you won’t see many pictures of it. We have a small two bedroom condo with two huskies and two kids so space is hard to come by. I would love to have an HGTV home but that’s just not my reality. “Excuse the mess, we’re making memories” has become my new favorite mantra. I don’t like cooking, unless it’s strawberry cupcakes, so I’m not one for recipes either. If you are a crafty mama who has a princess-lovin’ daughter, frequents Disney or enjoys throwing parties, then we’d be great friends! I’m so happy you stopped by and I would love to get to know you better. Please feel free to connect with me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest.
