3 Things We Love at the DreamWorks Kids Area at Universal Orlando

We recently visited the new DreamWorks Kids Area at Universal Orlando and my girls had the best time. This part of the park is perfect for families with younger kids because it mixes gentle rides, interactive play areas, and plenty of character magic.

Here are the three things we loved most and why this area is now one of our favorites.

Trolls Trollercoaster and Poppy’s Playground

The Trolls Trollercoaster is a bright, colorful ride shaped like the Trolls Caterbus. It is fast enough to be exciting for preschoolers but still gentle for younger riders. My older girls wanted to ride it over and over.

Right next to the coaster is Poppy’s Playground. It is full of shade and fun climbing areas that toddlers can explore safely.

You can also meet Poppy and Branch which was a huge hit for my Trolls loving girls!

Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres and Character Meet and Greets

Shrek’s Swamp is a whimsical play area full of rope bridges, slides, and silly features like a poop chute slide that giggles. My girls ran around for ages and I loved that it was shaded and full of fun details.

Right outside the swamp you can meet Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey. It felt like stepping into the movie.

Mom tip: Character times can vary so check the Universal app to see when Shrek and Fiona will be out.

Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp and the Imagination Celebration Show

Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp is an interactive play space with water features, noodle bowl spinners, and even a digital Po who teaches kung fu moves. My kids loved ringing the gongs and splashing in the water play area.

Mom tip: Bring a swim diaper for any little ones who are not potty trained. They won’t let your little one play without one! Spare clothes is also a must if you plan to stay at the park all day. My little ones were SOAKED! Or just pack some bathing suits.

Inside the DreamWorks Theatre is the Imagination Celebration show. It is a 15 to 20 minute performance with singing, dancing, and appearances by Po, Shrek, Poppy and more!

Mom tip: This show is the perfect AC break on a hot day. It gives you time to sit down while still keeping the kids entertained.

Snack Breaks Are a Must

Do not skip out on the snacks in this area. We grabbed some ice cream cones and it was the perfect treat to cool off. The lines were not too bad and it was an easy way to recharge before heading back to more rides.

Final Thoughts

The DreamWorks Kids Area is a wonderful spot for families with young children. Between the rides, play areas, and character interactions, there is so much to enjoy.

If you plan a visit, pack a swim diaper for Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp, hit the show when you need a cool AC break, and grab a snack because the ice cream is worth it.
