Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After Review

We tried the new Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After show at Hollywood Studios and it quickly became one of my favorite additions to the park. It is held in the Sunset Showcase Theater near Rock n Roller Coaster and opened at the end of May. The theater has been updated with comfortable seating and huge screens that surround the stage, making it feel more like a Broadway style experience than the old Lightning McQueen show that used to be there.

What the Show is Like

The story is set in the realm of the Magic Mirror who is tired of listening to villains complain. Three villains come to life from their mirrors to plead their case. Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent each perform their own song to convince the audience that they are the most misunderstood villain.

After all three finish their performances the audience gets to vote by cheering for their favorite. The villain with the loudest applause wins so the ending can be different every time.

Our Experience

The show is about 20 minutes long and it flies by. The music is catchy and the visuals are impressive. The actors playing the villains are so fun to watch and bring a lot of energy to the stage.

Cruella’s number has fog filled bubbles floating over the audience which my kids thought was the coolest thing. She also has several wardrobe surprises. Captain Hook’s part was silly and interactive and Maleficent’s song had the most drama!

We found that sitting about ten rows back and a little to one side gives the best view. You can see the actors clearly and still take in the full stage and screen effects.

What We Loved

This show feels different each time because of the audience vote. My girls loved being able to cheer and actually help pick the winner. It felt more interactive than most Disney shows.

The theater is air conditioned which is a nice bonus on a hot Florida afternoon. It is easy to fit into a Hollywood Studios day without needing a big time commitment.

What I Hope for the Future

Right now the show only features Cruella, Hook and Maleficent, live and in person. It would be so fun if Disney rotated in other villains over time. Imagine seeing Ursula or Hades perform their own numbers. Since the show already uses screens for cameos, adding more live characters feels possible.

Final Thoughts

Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After is a great addition to Hollywood Studios. It is funny, high energy and keeps kids engaged from start to finish. If you go, try to sit about ten rows back and off to one side for the best view. And definitely watch for Cruella’s fog filled bubbles.

We will absolutely see it again on future visits because the ending can change each time. As a passholder family, we love having a new show that feels fresh and interactive.
