7 Reasons Why Cabana Bay Beach Resort is Perfect for Families

If you’re planning a Universal Studios Orlando vacation with your family, be sure to check out Cabana Bay Beach Resort. We loved relaxing and playing at this beautiful resort inspired by the classic Florida beach resorts of the 1950s and 60s.

Thank you to Cabana Bay Beach Resort for hosting my family for a fun vacation. All opinions are my own. If you’re #ReadyforUniversal, be sure to check out #CabanaBayResort for your next visit!

Cabana Bay Beach Resort Review for Families

Spacious Family Suites for an Affordable Price

We absolutely loved our Family Suite. While there are a few options to choose from, our suite slept 6 comfortably. The room included two Queen size beds and one pull out sofa. There was even a sliding privacy partition between the bedroom and living space. These 430 square-foot suites include a kitchenette with a mini refrigerator, microwave and sink. There is also a compartmentalized bathroom with separate shower, toilet and sink areas. The best part is these spacious suites are really affordable for a large family.

Pools & Play at Cabana Bay Beach Resort

There are two pool areas at Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Orlando. The Cabana Courtyard features a zero-entry pool with iconic dive tower waterslide, interactive kids’ play area, sand pit with toys, cabanas for rent, and Atomic Tonic pool bar. The Lazy River Courtyard has a view of Volcano Bay and also features a zero-entry pool, a lazy river with waterfalls and cannons for interactive fun, and The Hideaway Bar & Grill. Both areas are very large and offer plenty of space for families to enjoy.

In addition to the two pool areas, the resort also has Galaxy Bowl, a 10-lane bowling alley. Right next door is Game-O-Rama, an arcade mix of old school classics and the latest high-tech games. Both bowling and the arcade are available for additional fees.

Delicious Food Options

I loved the 1950s and 60s theming at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, this was most evident in the restaurants and lounges. My family particularly enjoyed eating at the Bayliner Diner. This food court had several different food options for everyone’s appetite.

Bayliner Diner also offered grab and go items that were perfect for a quick breakfast or bringing a few snacks into the park during the day. My kids’ go to was the Uncrustables PB&J sandwiches and mini chocolate milks. There are several other restaurants on site plus a Starbucks and also a pizza delivery service.

Universal Orlando Theme Park Perks

One of the best parts of staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the awesome theme park perks. All guests receive Early Park Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal’s Volcano Bay. The resort has free shuttles so it’s always a quick hop between your room and the parks. In addition, there are resort-wide charging privileges with your room key. You can also receive complimentary merchandise delivery to your hotel from Universal shops and priority seating at select Universal Orlando restaurants.

Vacation Planning Center On Site

The Vacation Planning Center at Cabana Bay Beach Resort made it very convenient to check in and grab my park tickets without needing to wait in line at the theme park ticket centers. You can also purchase tickets on site or add on additional days or options. The staff was extremely helpful and the line was always really short.

Garden Walk Way to the Parks

Another great reason to stay at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the beautiful Garden Walk Way . This path connects the resort directly to the theme parks. I always prefer walking when pushing a stroller. It’s a lot easier than folding up a stroller and carting two young kids onto a bus. This walk way is mostly shaded and provides a nice walk between the resort and the parks. There are benches throughout the path if needed. I was also pleasantly surprised that the path stays mostly away from busy roads and is somewhat secluded.

The walk is about 20 minutes and pops you out right by Margaritaville at Universal City Walk. There is a separate security check point which rarely had any wait time. I would highly recommend this path if you have a stroller and don’t mind a little walk. It also takes about the same time to ride the bus, without a long wait.

Save Time and Shop for Souvenirs

When we are in the parks, I prefer to spend our time enjoying the rides and attractions. While we did a little bit of shopping inside Universal Studios and Island of Adventures, I highly recommend stopping by the Universal Studios Store on site at Cabana Bay Beach Resort. This shop had tons of merchandise selections which makes it easy and convenient to pick up a few items to take right back to your room.

They also had essential items available for purchase in case you forget something at home. They had baby food, formula, swim diapers, regular diapers, toothbrushes, etc. All great to know if you’re traveling with little kids.
