Baby Essentials Guide & Carter’s Big Baby Giveaway

As a new mom, it can be so hard to know what you’ll actually NEED when baby arrives. The countless ‘registry lists’ I’ve seen are all overwhelming and include items that really aren’t essentials when it comes to bringing home a new baby. So what baby items do you need?! Here’s my streamlined baby essentials guide. I’ve also partnered with Carter’s to provide details on a fabulous giveaway for your baby that you will definitely want to enter! (see below)
Basic Baby Needs
- Diapers in various sizes
- Wipes, wipes and more wipes
- Diaper Rash Cream
- Bathtime Soap
- Baby Lotion
- 3-4 washcloths
- 1-2 Bath Towels
- Soft Baby Tub Sling or Holder
- Pack and Play or Bassinet for Sleep
- 5-7 Swaddle Blankets
- 12 Burp Cloths
- 5-7 Pajamas (I prefer zip up over snaps)
- 2-3 Sleep Sacks
- 8 Basic Bodysuits
- 3-5 Cute Outfits
- 3-5 Bibs
- 8 Pack Baby Socks
- Baby Carrier, Sling or Wrap
- Carseat
- Stroller
- Baby Swing
- Diaper Backpack (trust me it’s better than an over the shoulder bag)
That’s it! Skip the frivolous things. No uncomfortable fancy outfits. Forget baby mittens, they NEVER stayed on my babies’ hands for longer than 5 minutes. Tons of baby gear (like jumpers, activity centers or play mats) can’t be used until they’re older. Nursery items (crib, baby monitor, etc) aren’t necessary until you’re ready for them to sleep in a different room which might not be until they’re one year old!
Clothing Baby Essentials
One of my favorite stores for comfortable, affordable baby fashion is Carter’s. Did you know they’re the inventor of the Original Bodysuit?! Imagine how much harder it would be without those little easy snap bodysuits!
