5 Ways to Grow Your Traffic and a Candid Review of Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson

This is a sponsored review of Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers. All opinions are my own.

Every year, tens of thousands of businesses start and fail because the entrepreneurs don’t understand this one essential skill: the art and science of getting consumers to find you. In Russell Brunson’s new book, Traffic Secrets, he shares the ultimate advice for building long term traffic for your site. This book offers real tactics to implement into your business and is longstanding despite changes in Google or social media algorithms.

I recently took the 30 Day Traffic Challenge to learn more about growing my audience. This post outlines my five most important takeaways from reading Traffic Secrets. But first, I want to share a little more about who Russell Brunson.

Who is Russell Brunson?

Before learning about this campaign, I didn’t know much about Russell Brunson. After being chosen for the 30 Day Traffic Challenge, I heard his name THREE times in one week. Once during a TikTok training webinar, another time in an SEO course and a third time in a Facebook group for bloggers sharing resources to grow your site. He is making waves in the industry and has quickly become an expert on growing an audience regardless of the platform.

So before you read my take aways from his book, here is a little more about Russell Brunson. He is a Best-Selling Author & CEO of $100M software company ClickFunnels (which became the fastest-growing non-venture backed software company in the world). He has built a following of over a million entrepreneurs, sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books and popularized the concept of sales funnels. Interested in how he accomplished this? Read on.

Your Mess Becomes Your Message.

One of the first things that really stood out to me in the beginning of Traffic Secrets is “your mess becomes your message”. Think back to the reason why you started your blog or business. Did you struggle in the past with the same problems your dream customers have now? For example, I couldn’t find good printables and realistic party ideas for my event planning business (and my own kids’ parties), so I created my own and shared them here to help other moms. What mess or problem have you solved that you can help others with too?

Find Your Dream 100.

The foundation of Traffic Secrets is finding your ideal audience, or as Russell Brunson calls it the “Dream 100”. While this process can be a little tedious, every other tactic comes back to having a solid understanding of who your audience is and where they hang out online. I appreciate that this book really pushes you to do the work to find your audience and take the time to identify what your dream audience likes including:

  • Websites
  • Dream Keywords
  • Forums & Message Boards
  • Facebook Groups
  • Facebook Influencers
  • Instagram Influencers
  • Podcasts
  • Email Newsletters
  • Google Keywords
  • Blogs
  • YouTube Channels
  • YouTube Keywords
  • Other Platforms

Hook, Story, Offer.

Once your Dream 100 list is finished, Russell Brunson then explains the hook, story and offer strategy for building traffic. The hook is the thing that grabs someone’s attention so you can tell them the story. Once someone personally identifies with your story, then they are more likely to accept your offer. The book provides several examples and troubleshooting tips to help you develop these three successfully.

Document. Don’t Create.

As a blogger and business owner, it can feel overwhelming and exhausting to constantly create content. I really resonated with this phrase from Traffic Secrets: “Document. Don’t Create.” Simply documenting what you’re doing instead of forcibly creating content is a much more authentic way to connect with your audience.

You Don’t Have to Dominate the Conversation.

Traffic Secrets provides a lot of up-to-date tips and tactics for real traffic growth. After sharing the overall, longterm blueprint for building traffic, Russell Brunson then shares a chapter on each major platform with strategies for growth today including: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Google. While reading all of the information can feel overwhelming, he recommends focusing on just ONE primary channel at a time.
