Villains After Hours: 5 Can’t Miss Frightfully Fun Experiences
Thank you to Disney Parks for providing us with media passes to enjoy the Disney Villains After Hours event. All magically opinions are my own.
I was so excited to receive an invitation to experience Villains After Hours at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. My daughter loves villains and we all had so much frightful fun at this event. Villains After Hours happens on select nights now through August 8, 2019, a separately ticketed, this special nighttime event showcases some of Disney’s favorite villain characters.
Tips for Attending Villains After Hours
Villains After Hours lets a limited number of guests into Disney’s Magic Kingdom for an additional 3 hours after it closes, with low wait times at more than 20 classic attractions, including Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain and more. The event also allows guests to access themed food and drinks, special photos, merchandise and shows. Check out my tips for attending below.
Buy Your Ticket in Advance
You can save money by purchasing your event ticket online before the event. Passholders and DVC members also receive a discount. This is also a limited event, so if you want until the night of, it may already be sold out. Be sure to plan ahead and buy your ticket in advance. Arrive Early
Included with your ticket is early admission into Magic Kingdom. You may arrive as early as 7pm. I highly recommend taking advantage of this extra time. If you’re an Annual Passholder, you can book a few late FastPasses+ for favorite attractions. We rode a few of the kiddie rides, met Ariel (since all character interactions close for the event) and played in Dumbo line queue. We also watched my kids’ favorite firework show, Happily Ever After before regular park closure. Eat Dinner Before
With park entry granted at 7pm, there is plenty of time to grab dinner outside of the park before entering. Many of the quick service dining options close at 7pm (or shortly after) so full meal options may be hard to find in the park. I recommend eating beforehand and grabbing a few villain themed snacks during the event (served after 10pm). If you’re bringing kids, even if they’re a little older, a stroller is essential for an after hours event at Disney. My girls both tend to stay up later. Evie, my older daughter, who is only four, made it until 1am at this event, but fell asleep on the walk back to the car. My littler one (who is only two) was asleep by 10:30pm and slept well in her stroller while we enjoyed the event. You won’t see elaborate costumes like at Mickey’s Not So Scary, but you will find tons of guests dressed up in villainous Disneybounds or villain attire. Even though the event takes place at night, Florida is still hot, so dress accordingly to prevent overheating. I found this cute Disney themed Evil Queen shirt for $7 at the Disney Character Warehouse at the Orlando Outlet Mall. I made my daughter’s maleficient shirt and my mom’s “My Favorite Little Disney Villains call me Grammy” shirt using my Cricut. My youngest daughter’s Queen of Hearts dress was ordered on Amazon. Be sure to follow Disney’s dress code and costume guidelines.Bring a Stroller
