Moana Party Food Ideas
Food is a crucial part of any party. These Moana themed party foods are perfect for your luau and easy to make. It’s so much fun to theme party food after favorite characters, especially from Disney’s Moana.
We served Hei Hei (chicken tenders), Pua (Pulled Pork on Hawaiian Rolls), Driftwood (Pretzel Sticks), Fruit of Tefiti, Heart of Te Fiti Cookies, Fish and Chips (Goldfish and Chips and Salsa), Tekah Lava Rocks (rock candy), Toatoma Treasure (Ring Pops and Chocolate Coins) and Ocean Water (Pineapple Juice, Sprite and Hawaiian Punch).

Moana Birthday Party Cupcake & Cake Ideas
We skipped a birthday cake for the party, but did serve delicious cupcakes inspired by the Disney movie. The cupcake toppers included mini hearts of te fiti, chocolate seashells, starfish and tropical flowers all made by our local bakery.

DIY Moana Party Decor
I made Moana themed letters to spell my daughter’s name. The paper mache letters were half off at Hobby Lobby. Most supplies I used came from my existing craft leftover stash. Each letter was inspired by a character from the movie.
I also made a giant 2 out of leftover Hawaiian flowers. This was an easy way to personalize the party decor. Overall, both projects cost less than $20 to make and they were such a focal point of our food table as the perfect DIY Moana Birthday Party Decorations.
Moana Party Ideas for Girl Birthday
My girls love to play dress up so I knew we needed some fun things for the party to wear. If you need Moana party ideas for girl parties, I highly recommend stopping by your local Dollar Tree.
I purchased a lot of luau party supplies from there including these Kakamora Coconut Cups, colorful leis, hair clip flowers, grass skirts and Moana themed tattoos for our Maui Tattoo station.
Moana Decorations DIY
These beautiful hibiscus flower centerpieces were from the Dollar Tree as well and the turquoise mason jars were reused from my sister’s wedding. We covered the party tables in bright colored plastic tablecloths and used a wire and jute runner from the floral department at Hobby Lobby (one $5 roll covered 4 tables).
I also used tiki torches all around the yard with citronella oil to help keep the bugs away. Party guests could enjoy corn hole, swimming in the pool or playing in the sandbox while outside.
We hung paper lanterns and tissue pom poms from the tree outside. I mixed in tropical leaves, ocean net and seashells all over to give it an easy and affordable Moana feel.
Photo Booth Fun
No party is complete without a Photo Booth. I found luau themed props at Hobby Lobby for fairly cheap and added leftover flowers to the frames for a fun twist. I also purchased this water backdrop at Hobby Lobby for only $7!

Moana Birthday Party Games and Activities
Voyage Scavenger Hunt
Create a Moana-inspired scavenger hunt by hiding “Heart of Te Fiti” rocks or seashells around your yard or house. Kids can embark on a thrilling journey to find these precious items, just like Moana’s quest in the movie.
Palm Tree Limbo
Set up fake palm trees (or use foam pool noodles to make your own) and play a limbo game. Kids can test their limbo skills and see how low they can go under the “palm trees.”
Moana Karaoke
Set up a karaoke station with favorite Moana songs. Kids can channel their inner Moana or Maui and perform their renditions of beloved tunes from the Moana soundtrack.
Hula Dancing
Teach the little adventurers some basic hula dance moves. You can even hire a hula dance instructor, character entertainer or use online tutorials to make it more authentic.
Maui Tattoo Station
Temporary Moana tattoos can be a hit at the party. Kids can pick their favorite designs and apply them with a bit of water.
Moana Boat Craft
Let the kids create their miniature Moana boats using popsicle sticks, paint, and paper sails. This hands-on craft activity adds a creative touch to the party.
Te Ka Ring Toss
Set up a ring toss game with Te Ka (the lava monster) as the target. Kids can take turns tossing rings onto Te Ka’s fiery head.
Coconut Bowling
Paint bowling balls to look like Kakamora coconut cups and set up a bowling alley. Kids will have a blast knocking down the “Kakamoras.”
Animal Charades
Play charades using animals that Maui shape shifts into during the movie. You can pre write each animal on a piece of paper or print pictures of the animals for young kids who cannot read.

I was so excited to come across your Moana themed party. My daughter turns 3 Thursday and has been asking for a Moana party for months now. Thank you for sharing your printables. Were you able to find the graphics online somewhere? I have a couple of additional items on my menu and would prefer they all match. They really only need to look like Driftwood or Fish and Chips. Thanks for any help!

They worked out great! I thought the quality was perfect enough for a single party. I’m not sure they would be great to use over and over again, but for a single party they were perfect 🙂
